Innawally Pool and Fortescue River Aquatic Fauna Surveys
ecologia was commissioned by BHP to conduct a two-season aquatic fauna and habitat survey at Innawally Pool and along a 10 km-long stretch of Jimblebar Creek and eight pools in the Fortescue River between Ophthalmia Dam and a pool upstream of the Nullagine Bridge. The assessment focussed on the presence of fauna and habitats which are considered to be of conservation significance, in order to support BHP’s environmental decision-making for the Jimblebar mining operations, including discharging water from Ophthalmia Dam. Additionally, the assessment investigated whether there was any change in fauna in response to changing water quality as a result of the increased discharge from Ophthalmia Dam.
