South Coast Highway, Ravensthorpe: Acrotriche orbicularis Monitoring and Management Programme
ecologia completed an environmental assessment to determine the extent of the damage to Threatened flora Acrotriche orbicularis as a result of construction activities associated with the installation of a Telstra optic fibre cable east of Ravensthorpe. Recommendations included site management and ongoing monitoring measures, including the occurrence of dieback disease (Phytophthora cinnamomi) and both the detection and control of spread invasive weed species through physical removal, to identify, minimise or remove threats to the local Acrotriche orbicularis population.
A three-year management and monitoring program endorsed by the Department Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions included the collection of Acrotriche orbicularis seed from representative individuals from the population.
